Discover Nerdcore Hip-Hop on OurStage.com!

Friday, May 16th, 2008
www.ourstage.com

Nerdcore Hip-Hop is breaking into the music scene in full geek-chic fashion - glasses pushed all the way up, suspenders securely fastened and pocket protectors in place. Nerdcore music explores all corners of the ‘less than cool’ - from Star Wars to video games to comic books and beyond! With increasingly popular live performances and two feature documentaries on the festival circuit, Nerdcore is developing a diverse and passionate fan base.

Some find it strange that nerds are finding success in a scene that’s known for it’s rough and stylish image, but hip hop is more than that. It would be one thing if a bunch of dweebs were just bouncing on stage as they spit off tempo nursery rhymes about Java Script. MC Frontalot, the father of Nerdcore Hip-Hop, spits a verse as well written and tightly performed as any artist on the mainstream scene today. And beyond their skills on the mic is an honesty in their hearts. In the movie Nerdcore Rising, Prince Paul of De La Soul reminds the audience that hip hop has always been about keeping it real, and these guys aren’t pretending to be anything they’re not. The artist of Nerdcore have dug in, developed their flow and stepped onto the music scene with an a sense of humor and most importantly, a sense of self.

CHECK OUT THE VIDEO - Meet MC Frontalot & Negin Farsad, director of Nerdcore Rising.

OurStage Presents: Biggest Fan Braddigan (of Dispatch)

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008
www.ourstage.com

Brad Corrigan or ‘Braddigan’ (of Dispatch) was possibly one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever interviewed. Not only was he super down to earth, funny, well spoken and great on camera - but he recognized the importance of this sit down experience for the fans as well. When I interview a lot of more established musicians, I’m always very conscious of the time restrictions. From the moment the stars sit down, they’re on a clock. But Brad was a horse of a different color. He came and said hi before hand, sat down and shared his chai latte with us while we were waiting for the sound check to end and even showed us his personal pictures from his humanitarian work abroad in Nicaragua and Zimbabwe. This was a man who seemed to live his moments one at a time and really dug into each one as if he found little things he could grow from in each waking moment.

Lori and Marc were super grateful for the experience and really cool people to chill with before and during the show. Lori was lucky enough score an invitation to join Braddigan for several shows the following weekend and help out his team. Marc came out with the OurStage crew after the show and chilled with OurStage artist Syd (who you might remember from the virgin fest last year and THIS INTERVIEW VIDEO). It was an amazing night and everyone was super cool. The fan opportunities are piling up fast so stay tuned into the OurStage News posts on the front page for the latest info.
