OurStage’s Stanley Ross rocks PLUG Chicago!!

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Holy Fuck! … and A Place to Bury Strangers … and OurStage.com band Stanley Ross performed an amazing (and sold out) show at Schubas in downtown Chicago. Probably one of the coolest venues I’ve been in in a long time. It’s part pub, part comedy club, and part rock venue all mashed into this one place. The people who worked there were super cool and EVERY person in the each of the bands was chill and fun to talk to (not always the case). The guys from Stanley Ross were funny, cool and (most importantly) performed a kick ass set. Basically these guys just love music… They love to play music, they love to listen to music and they love to talk about music and that very simple passion just shines through in their performance. Also, I’m pretty sure I have a huge crush on Graham and Brian from Holy Fuck … and possibly Jono from APTBS … color me groupie … also … I’m pretty sure I took every possible opportunity to make a stupid joke about the name Holy Fuck … *sigh* you can take the girl out of 5th grade but you can’t take the 5th grade outta the girl.

John Legend Mentors OurStage Artist Trouble City

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

OurStage artists Pat G. and Lorenzo Marshall are ‘the men’ … or whatever your plural of ‘the MAN’ is. They call themselves “Trouble City” and they are smart, motivated, cute and charming as nobody’s business… so look out ladies, they could be ‘trouble’ on your heart as well! The cool thing about this whole prize was that John really took his time with the guys and gave them some killer advice. It will be interesting to see where these guys take their music from here.

To listen to more of their music visit: Trouble City’s Fan Club. To help decide who gets the next amazing opportunity click “judge” at the top of your screen.

Inside scoop on the video/ artists:

1.) All the beats in the background of the video were mixed by either Pat or Lorenzo.

2.) Pat and Lorenzo had actually recorded some songs in the studio where John held the mentor session (talk about guys with taste).

3.) The traffic was so bad getting into New York that the OurStage crew and Trouble City had no time to stop for lunch. So, by 5:30pm – when the interview ended – the whole group of us rushed to the nearest burger joint (where we continued to gush about how cool the mentor session was).

4.) The first thing John talked about when he sat down was football! The boys said they were from Boston and he looked at them both and said, “Patriots huh?” … funny guy that John Legend. Sigh … you can win a mentor session but you can’t win em all.
