Ourstage@ Interviews: Leroy Justice
Friday, April 27th, 2007Every once in a while, things just fall into place.
Watching Leroy Justice play at the OurStage showcase at Verge, you couldn’t help but feel like the stars aligned. Nevermind they’re from New York City. Their set began almost immediately after the Red Sox beat the Yankees 7-5 across the Street at Fenway Park. As they began to play, swarms of well-lubricated and jocular Sox fans poured into Bill’s Bar, looking for a good time.
And Leroy Justice is a good time band.
With thick bluesy licks, an amped up stage presence, and vocals that practically invite you to sing along, Leroy Justice brought exactly what the crowd was looking for. Of course it didn’t hurt that lead singer, Jason Gallagher, provided eye-candy for the girlfriends of the inebriated. Simply put, the Justice killed.
An interesting side note: You’ll notice that two of the band members are missing in my interview. The keyboardist and lead guitarist (Sloan and Brendan) were at the game. Apparently one is a Yankees fan and the other a Sox fan. I never figured out which was a fan of which. Fortunately for the Justice (and the crowd), they put their differences aside in time for the show.
